Description:
Considered the nation's largest gathering of independent craft brewers, the Oregon Brewers Festival offers the ideal venue to sample the very best examples of craft beers from the top breweries in the country. Seventy-two breweries provide tastings of their hand-crafted product to an estimated 90,000 beer lovers during the three-day event. Beer is the focus, with many of the classic beer styles represented, including fruity ales, potent bocks, rich porters, formidable stouts, hoppy pale ales, flowery pilsners and syrupy barley wines.
Seven local on-site restaurants offer light meals and alternative beverages. Portland's own Speakeasy, featuring world-renowned David Frishberg on piano, will entertain throughout the weekend. Hop growers, maltsters, fermentation scientists, home brewers and national beer writers will exhibit beer-related activities. Free bicycle parking is available each day, courtesy of the Bicycle Transportation Alliance.
The Oregon Brewers Festival is generously sponsored by American Coaster Co; Briess Malting Co; Crystal Springs Water; Gambrinus Malting; Great Western Chemical Co; Great Western Malting Co; Hop Union USA; and the Oregon Hop Growers Association.
It is fitting that this festival takes place in Portland, which is considered one of the country's brewing capitals. The state of Oregon has nearly 70 craft breweries, and Portland alone makes up a third of that number.
